Framework for
Quality
Our school district is on a Total
Quality Education (TQE) journey. We began our journey in 1995.
A district TQE Leadership Team was formed in 1996 and
continues to operate as the guiding force for the facilitation
of TQE training and activities throughout the district. We are
continuing our quest for continuous improvement via on-going
training, use of data based decision making tools and
integration of the TQE principles into our daily activities
and practices. The Jenks Public Schools model of TQE,
developed in 1998, is based on Dr. W. Edwards Deming's Quality
principles of strong, quality leadership; continuous
improvement; customer focus; and systems/process focus which
form the pillars of our "school." (Bonstingl, 1992) The
foundation pieces of the model are quality training, teamwork
and data based decisions. The pillars and foundation pieces
combine to form the framework for a Total Quality Education
organization.
